It all began with a simple idea rooted in a passion for sustainability and quality. Unlike most soap companies, The Ugly As... Soap Company was born from a desire to reduce food waste. After years in the restaurant industry and a strong aversion to wasting good product, our founder started freezing beef fat trimmings. What began as a full freezer soon turned into an experiment with rendering tallow, which led to soap making. The joy and fulfillment found in creating these soaps sparked a new journey: The Ugly As... Soap Company was born in Newport, North Carolina!
